Welcome 2017 - the Chinese Year of the Rooster
7th January 2017
Ben Noah Suri describes himself as ‘Just a simple wordsmith’ and ‘an eternal student of Life & Truth’. What a wonderful sentiment to have as a writer!
Ben's professional life has reflected this sentiment. It has been a life of value, spent in the world of communications, community involvement, empowerment of women and low cost housing. In a word he has been broadening minds and hearts of those less fortunate of life's ladder.
I was first attracted to Ben’s work when I read his poem, ‘The Year of the Rooster’. It expresses a farewell to 2016 (the Chinese Year of the Monkey) and celebrates the year to come. What especially interested me, was the fact that Ben is Indian, yet he chose to focus on the Chinese viewpoint of the new year. It may not occur to him, but to me, this is a wonderfully multi-cultural, ‘oneness’ outlook, which I embraced whole heartedly.
He states his aim is to build a publishing platform for deserving talent in India, especially for those who are able to inspire change to today’s young people.
Some of his work is available here.
A particularly interesting one, I found was 'The Race to the Slaughter House'. Obviously not to many tastes, but it brought to my mind a 'what if' moment that has often crossed my mind when I've looked through a butcher shop window.
Ben's poem 'The Chinese Year of the Rooster' is available here.
May the Rooster crow in Blessings of Prosperity, Happiness and Peace for him and his family in this New Year 2017.
