Four Ways To Overcome It (Part 3 of 3)

The old jingle, “You’ve got Mail” is the new jingle from Hell. If you are still collecting emails, stop! You’re wasting your time and energy.

Part 1 of this blog showed the research and statistics behind the decline of the email which is having a negative impact on many entrepreneurs, telesummits, internet based and terrestrial events.

Part 2 focused on the studies that showed the reasons for email and email blast decline.

In Part 3 of this 3 part blog focuses on:

  • Shifting to solutions you already have in place

  • Building on those solutions to overcome these challenges

  • Attaining success

What is an entrepreneur to do with the decline of emails as a means of contact with potential clients? Is the death of emails the death of entreprenorial businesses?

Shift with the changing times.

Here is how to make the change.

In Part 2, I described how I was invited to be one of the twenty-five experts on a telesummit titled “Whole Food Love-End to Diets”  One of the stipulations for being a presenter was having an email list of at least 5,000 contacts or more for promotion. Although I had more than enough email contacts, I chose not to use my email list in a blast. Instead, I chose to use social media.  As a result...

I was one of the most successful presenters in terms of promotional reach.

For my telesummit success, I combined strategic emailing with my social media contacts and cross-pollinated the information on my sites through blogging (my own and several guest blogs), radio shows, and the telesummit itself.  As a result, they were picked up by web-crawlers and displayed on Internet search engines for optimum client reach.

You can see how the links below would have a larger impact on promotion by their potential reach.

Use the examples above as a roadmap of where you want to be if you are building your social media sites and promotional platform for any events including book launches.

Well planned Telesummits, conferences, events, trade shows, etc., still work and are great ways to help spread your message across the world and speak directly to global niche audiences to gain credibility, recognition, and publicity.  For speakers, business leaders, business/personal development coaches, these events allow for collaborative business relationships between business and professionals who want to share the cost and time of marketing to grow client bases and establish themselves as experts in their fields.

However, rather than wasting time collecting and sending emails, redirect that time to promote your area of expertise using a specific message and let people who are interested in what you have to say, sell, or teach find you.

The Story of Dogs and Potential Clients

If you walk quickly but enthuastically with an arm full of delicious bones and food toward a starving dog it will run.  Why? Because it is natural to flee from something stalking or chasing you. As much as that dog NEEDS your life-saving food, self-preservation triggers fight-or-flight which overrules hunger. However, if you stand quietly in a deserted parking lot with food hidden in your pocket, a starving dog will find it and you, and bring its pack of friends. If you throw a bite of food to the dog from your stationary position and allow it to approach on its own terms, it will begin to trust you. Once, that step is reached you will have a friend for life.

What is the moral of the dog story?

Don’t chase clients you want. Be authentic, and they will find, trust and follow you.

How does this story reflect the topic of this email blast blog? Don’t persue clients by emailing the bejabbers out of them. Promote yourself as a professional expert with a pocket full of irresistible information. Everyone who is hungry for that knowledge will find you and will bring their friends.

Establish yourself as an expert in your field using social media, which continues to grow with leaps and bounds, is linked into search engines for SEO; Search Engine Optimization, and can help success find you.

How true and important is this suggestion?

My internet presence has attracted the attention of:

  • The Vice President of a TV/Movie media company who personally contacted my publisher at Book Expo America in New York pertaining to turning Surviving Cancerland into a TV miniseries.

  • Numerous Nationally and Internationally Syndicated  TV Show Hosts like Dr. Oz and Radio Show Hosts like George Noory’s Coast to Coast for guest appearances

The above mentioned hosts and contacts were not reached through an email blast.

They found my message on social media.

If that message could be described as a cookie, my cookie attracted them because it was what they were looking for, anyway.

If I was not being authentic and did not believe in what was just written to you in these three blogs, I would have a link below for you to click for a FREE gift so I could spam the heck out of you later today and then follow up with more spam emails during the week.

But, I won’t because I know you know it would be a waste of both our time!

Instead, consider yourself officially invited to follow me on my website and social media pages to see if my message resonates with you and if the mini- series and /or National TV Interviews became a reality. The sites share:

  • Tips for success on being a successful published author and radio host

  • How to “Celebratize Yourself” and

  • Workshops on how to establish your expertise and monetize your message

You can check it out when it fits into your busy schedule, and I will personally follow you back.

Now isn’t that civilized and professional!

Look! There’s a dog over there. I will put a cookie in my pocket, walk away and see if the information written throughout these 3 blogs is true about social media ruling over email blasts. Do you think the dog will collect his friends and follow me? I hope so. I love dogs.
